7:50pm Ok, I'm putting down my paintbrushes! In addition to the gorgeous dresses, I really loved all the smokey eyes and romantic pink lips at the Golden Globes. Thinking I might have to recreate some of those looks myself, with my fav L'Oreal Paris products! Who was your favorite from the red carpet tonight?

Fashion Illustration Croquis

The Golden Globes Awards are tomorrow, and I can't wait! All those beautiful, luxurious gowns on the red carpet...oh my! And I guess I'm looking forward to the actual awards ceremony too. ;)

I'm planning to illustrate my favorite gowns live, as they make their appearance on the red carpet, so make sure you're following @BrownPaperBunny on Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat!

In order to capture my favorites quickly, I've pre-drawn some fashion illustration croquis (templates). I looked up last year's Golden Globes and found the most common poses, and started sketching. And then I thought, what if other people sketched along with me, how much fun would that be!?

I usually use fashion illustration croquis in one of two ways. Either I draw them in pen or marker, and put them behind my drawing paper as a loose template, or I actually transfer them straight onto my paper and draw over the top. The choice is yours, print these out and have some fun!

2015 Illustrated Calendar

I am so excited to be launching the first calendar I've done in years! I had so much fun painting my rainbow girls series that I didn't want it to end! So I turned them into a calendar in hopes that others will get to enjoy them all year long.

Each calendar comes with a plastic (CD case style) stand, or you can stick / pin / tape / glue the individual cards wherever you like! Perfect gift for a co-worker, or to brighten up your own desk at home or work!

How to make your own watercolor set

I get a lot of questions on how I make my mini watercolor sets out of mint tins, so I thought I would show you rather than tell you.

Here are the supplies you'll need:

Mint tin (Altoid tins work really well, or you can find interesting ones at candy stores)
Fimo or other bake-able modeling clay
Chopsticks (to help in the smaller areas)
Liquid watercolors in tubes

Note: Currently my favorite brand of watercolor is Sennelier, a French artists' watercolor with honey to keep it from drying too quickly. However, when you're traveling you probably don't have a lot of time to wait for paint to dry so I've opted for Winsor and Newton Cotman and Artist watercolors for my little tins.

Fashionary Fashion Illustration Sketchbook: Unboxing

Now that I don't have wedding planning filling my every moment, and the holiday season has come to an end, I finally found time to clean out my studio this weekend.

Among other things, I managed to find the Fashionary Fashion Illustration Sketchbook that was so kindly sent to me to try out.

If you haven't heard of Fashionary, they provide a series of sketchbooks designed specifically for fashion illustration. In addition to including useful information such as measurement tools, a brand index, and a fabric dictionary the pages of their sketchbooks are full of lightly-outlined templates. This means no more drawing croquis! Instead, you can get straight to the designs and getting your ideas down on paper. Brilliant!

They send me the Tiger Mania sketchbook, which I'm now completely in love with, but I also love their Candy Pops range. Check it out.
